York
Formerly a part of Toronto, the City of York has a population of roughly 100,000. It is bordered by Old Toronto, North York, and Etobicoke. York is known for its highly-ranked schools and stellar transit system (the city is serviced by both the Toronto Transit Commission and the GO Transit system). It is also home to vibrant Portuguese, Jamaican, and Italian neighbourhoods. York currently encompasses several communities, including Fairbank and Silverhorn, which together have earned the nickname “Toronto’s hidden San Francisco” owing to its steep streets and staircases.
