Located from the north of Rossland to the south of Taunton, you’ll become acquainted with a charming neighbourhood known as Centennial, Oshawa. Commonly referred to as "The Nosh," Centennial is a sought-after part of Oshawa with plenty of parks and convenient shopping.

Centennial is an older neighbourhood, ideal for first-time buyers and those with small families. Daycares and primary schools are perfectly accessible by foot from any location in the area; however, there are no high schools in Centennial.

The atmosphere in Centennial is generally quite tranquil and serene, with a friendly community.

In Centennial, Oshawa, you’ll immediately notice the large number of bungalow and two-storey homes, many of which go as far back as the 1940s and 1950s. There are also a large number of townhouse enclaves built in the 1980s and 1990s that are still great for affordable starter homes.

Roughly one-third of dwellings here are single detached homes, and the remainder is mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses. The great thing about this part of Oshawa is the extensive selection of housing sizes – ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.

Whether you’re dining in or grabbing take-out, Centennial offers a lot of tasty restaurants in the vicinity and a few cozy cafes, as well.

At Simcoe Blues and Jazz Bar & Grill you’ll find a buzzing hangout for nightly live music where you can enjoy casual eats like burgers, pasta and ribs. Take your pick of more pub options at The Crooked Uncle, Upper Keg Restaurant & Bar, or the Waltzing Weasel.

Just off of Rossland and Wilson lies Coffee Culture Café & Eatery, a community favourite with a laid-back vibe whether you’re catching up with friends or need a quiet place to work.

Many parks are scattered throughout Centennial, providing a lot of green space and recreational opportunities.

Forming the eastern border of the neighbourhood is Oshawa Creek, which runs throughout the city. There lies Somerset Park, which features a picturesque trail and a children’s playground.

Northway Court Park is another sizable and lush park that offers a children’s playground and a sports field. Mary Street Community Garden serves as a stunning backdrop for picnics or evening strolls.

With a total of 10 parks, Centennial is quite the park haven and perfect for children of all ages.

You’ll have no problem finding recreational activities in Centennial, Oshawa.

Located just east of Riston on Beatrice is North Oshawa Park. This park offers an array of facilities that include a basketball court, a community clubhouse, a children’s playground, a skateboard park, a sports field, plus five tennis courts.

You can also check out Northview Community Centre next door, which houses a community rec centre, a fitness and weight room, a gym, and two lawn bowling and bocce greens. 

While many members of the community drive, navigating the area is easy and convenient for pedestrians. Still, Centennial is quite car-friendly, with accessible parking always within reach. Residents using public transit, however, may find their choices are limited due to the infrequent service. Fortunately, homeowners are served by around 10 bus lines, and most homes are close to a bus stop.

Centennial offers a relaxing ambiance and appeals to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. This part of the city is great for those who long for peace and quiet, as the streets are usually tranquil. It’s also easy to get to public green spaces since approximately 20 of them are nearby, and many parks are close to many of the properties that are for sale. If you’re looking for a  quiet environment with a tight-knit community, Centennial is an excellent choice.
