Tansley Woods, Burlington Neighbourhood Guide: Convenient and Scenic

There are several shopping areas in the Tansley Woods area, the closest of which is near the intersection of Upper Middle Road and Walker’s Line. This mall has a FreshCo, Shoppers Drug Mart, Pet Valu, and a dollar store called Buck of Two. West on Upper Middle Road you will find another shopping area with a RONA, Canadian Tire, and Metro. North on Appleby Line from here, there is a Walmart Supercentre, a Winners & Homesense, Marshalls, and Toys”R”Us. Just a little further north you will find a Lowe’s Home Improvement. There’s also Link Kitchen & Bath a kitchen store.

Some nearby restaurants to Tansley Park are in the mall where Upper Middle Road intersects with Walker’s Line. One venue is Beertown Public House. This is a pub-style restaurant with a menu featuring burgers, salads, tacos, and an extensive beer list. This eatery isn’t too far from El Inka Peruvian Cuisine where you can order Peruvian dishes like arroz con mariscos, filet de polla a la plancha, and aji de gallina. A short walk away from El Inka you will find Daytime Grill, a family restaurant serving a simple breakfast menu and other diner favourites. Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar & Grill is also in this mall, where you can order pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, and burgers.

Palmer Park, Tansley Woods Park, and Lansdown Park are three green spaces within a short walk of residences in Tansley Woods. These parks have baseball diamonds and large open fields for sports and other activities. Tansley Woods Park has a long trail going through a wooded area leading to the Tansley Woods Community Centre. A short drive east of this neighbourhood will bring locals to Bronte Creek Provincial Park. This massive conservation area has a restored farmhouse, a nature centre, many campsites, and extensive walking trails. The park is divided by Bronte Creek, which forms a ravine with many picturesque lookout points.

Tansley Woods Community Centre on Itabashi Way has a leisure pool with a waterslide and diving board, and a double gym with basketball. The community centre also has several multi-purpose rooms for classes and community organizations. There is a notable garden outside the building designed in the Japanese tradition with sculptures, flower gardens, and small pavilions. North of this community centre on Country Club Drive there is a golf club called Millcroft Golf Club. This club has an 18-hole course and a restaurant. There are several fitness gyms in Tansley Woods including Eat the Frog Fitness, 9Round Fitness, Mavati Athletic, and MADabolic Burlington.

Your journey to downtown Toronto from Tansley Woods begins by driving east on Upper Middle Road. Turn south on Appleby Line and merge onto Highway 403. Follow this highway as it changes into the Gardiner Expressway. After around 40 minutes you will be on the southern border of downtown Toronto, where you to exit onto one of the northbound streets leading into the city. If you’re taking public transit, the best way is to catch a bus going south to Burlington’s GO Station. From here you can ride a train to Union Station in downtown Toronto and take the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line into the city.
