Watersports, hiking, or just sitting around the fire — whichever you prefer, Wahi’s Canadian cottage listings have you covered.
Summer’s almost over, but there’s still time to get out and enjoy the Great Canadian Outdoors.
With the final long weekend of the season around the corner, many across the country will escape the cities for the cottage. Popular destinations from B.C.’s Sunshine Coast to the Maritimes — and everywhere in between — are sure to be teeming with vacationers soaking up the sun, taking a dip in pristine waters, and enjoying everything else Canadian cottage country has to offer. To mark the occasion, we checked the Wahi listings to scout out five Canadian cottages for sale with outstanding outdoor space. Check them out below.
The list price: $6,400,000
The property: Six separate lots amounting to nearly an acre of wilderness to explore. The property has a main cottage and secondary house.
The cottage: This sprawling 9,299-square-foot home’s great room features floor-to-ceiling windows looking onto the carefully landscaped near-acreage. The space has all the natural finishes you’d expect in an authentic Banff retreat. Stone floors and a vaulted wood ceiling set an outdoorsy tone, but there’s also a full chef’s kitchen with stainless-steel appliances.
While a large indoor pool isn’t exactly a traditional cottage amenity, it’s made less conspicuous by the wood trim that extends throughout.
Technically, it’s still summer, but when the sun sets at this time of year it can get a bit chilly. So if you’re not up for sitting around the campfire, the cozy library is an ideal spot to spend the night.
The list price: $7,000,000
The property: A 6.2-acre island on the Haro Strait that’s just a 10-minute boat ride from Canoe Cove Marina, on Vancouver island. In addition to the main vacation home, the property has five secondary cottages, each with its own kitchen, living room, satellite, and WiFi. A series of lit trails run across the property, where you’ll also find a tennis court and dock.
The cottage: The primary four-bedroom, four-bathroom dwelling dates back to 1985, but it remains timeless with classic Cottage Country touches such as cedar roofing, oak floors, and stone fireplaces as well as some palatial style. Inside, there’s also a pool house and hot tub, games room, and separate guest suite (if all five of your visitor cottages happen to be occupied). Outside, the patio has its own wood-fire oven, while an elevated rooftop balcony serves as an awe-inspiring ocean lookout.
The list price: $1,399,000
The property: Six acres of riverfront land made up of two parcels split by Mission Creek and within minutes of Kelowna. There’s also a highly Instagramable A-frame guest cottage set right on a crystal-clear swim pond.
The cottage: This 2,300 square-foot all-season cottage has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and was previously renovated to maximize potential. A heated flex space has been put in under the large deck to add to the living space and complement the nicely appointed basement, with a sliding barn door.

The list price: $4,049,000
The property: A sprawling, 27-acre island in Cape Breton’s Marble Mountain, a former quarry area known today for pristine white beaches and clear water. In addition to the vacation home, the island boasts a boat house, wharf, multiple garages, a guest house with sauna, and gazebo. A bridge connects the island to the mainland, so you don’t need to rely on a boat. Also included in the listing: a Jeep, motorcycle, ATV, motor boats (plural), but that’s not all. The seller is throwing in a condo parking spot at the local airport.
The cottage: The charming three-bedroom, three-plus-one-bath cottage hugs the shoreline and has uninterrupted seaside views. A huge arched window in the main room makes an already-bright space brighter. Just off this area, there’s a wraparound deck where you can cool off in the ocean breeze.
The list price: $17,495,000
The property: More than two acres of land straddling highly desirable Lake Joseph, one of the most sought-after cottage destinations in Canada. A three-slip boat house has multiple decks and a second-storey guest suite, though the main house isn’t what you’d call short on space.
The cottage: We’ve focused this Wahi listings roundup on the outdoors, and while this property no doubt has some impressive open-air amenities, the 6,888-square-foot all-season cottage may be the focal point here.
The custom five-bedroom, five-bathroom home has been finished with high-end materials, including white oak hardwood flooring and black onyx stone. The living area’s centre piece is an open-air fireplace, a functional work of art. The primary bathroom has a steam shower and cedar-lined sauna, creating a spa-like experience in the heart of Muskoka.
