Nestled on the scenic Point Grey Peninsula, this neighbourhood offers a wide range of amenities and services to those who live there. While the population is largely dominated by students and faculty members of the university, there are others who choose to live here due to the many perks it offers. As mentioned above, Wesbrook Place is situated on the Vancouver campus of the University of British Columbia, one of the top post-secondary institutions and the top university in the province of BC. Therefore, you can bet that you will receive a quality education by attending UBC and doing so will be extremely convenient owing to the neighbourhood’s proximity to the campus. However, if UBC isn’t for you, Vancouver is home to many other esteemed colleges and universities, like Simon Fraser University, Capilano University, Vancouver Film School, the Art Institute of Vancouver, and the Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Further, when it comes to elementary and secondary schools in Wesbrook Place, you will also be in good hands. Vancouver School District, or BC School District No. 39, runs all public schools in the City of Vancouver, including those surrounding Wesbrook Place in the nearby neighbourhoods of Point Grey, Dunbar-Southlands, and Kitsilano. These neighbouring communities also have a number of Catholic, French immersion, and private options.
Wesbrook Place is a small community on the UBC campus, so small in fact, that it is not typically divided up into neighbourhoods. That said, some of the main neighbourhoods that surround Wesbrook Place include Hampton Place, University Hill, the University of British Columbia, Pacific Spirit Regional Park, Point Grey, Dunbar-Southlands, and Kitsilano.
Wesbrook Place is connected to the rest of the UBC campus and to the Metro Vancouver Area more widely by the city’s TransLink public transportation system. TransLink operates a myriad of bus routes to and from Wesbrook Place, though there is no SkyTrain access. Beyond local buses, Wesbrook Place residents can be at Vancouver International Airport in less than 25 minutes by car via SW Marine Drive, due to the fact that Richmond is located directly south of the neighbourhood. Meanwhile, by making your way into downtown Vancouver, you will have access to all kinds of coach buses, as well as Via Rail trains. Healthcare infrastructure is also excellent, with UBC having two medical facilities, the UBC clinic and the UBC Hospital, on campus. Vancouver’s other hospitals, like Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, and Vancouver General Hospital, are also not far from Wesbrook Place.

The Neighbourhood Plan for Wesbrook Place was first introduced in 2005 before being modified in 2006, 2011, 2016, and most recently, in 2020. To date, plans for the neighbourhood include the development of a high school, a community centre, six local parks, pedestrian-friendly walkways, a commercial town centre with various amenities like a grocery store and shops, as well as housing options for not just students and faculty but also families and seniors.
