Podcasts are more than entertainment. They’re a way to stay informed about your industry, and they can help you develop professional skills, too.

Already, many Canadians are taking advantage of the increasingly popular medium. Last year, 43% of Canadians tuned in to podcasts monthly, up from 38% in 2021, according to Edison Research, a pollster and researcher. Whether you’re a real estate professional who’s just entering the world of podcasts or you’re a seasoned listener looking for new content, here are five top podcasts for REALTORS®.

1. REAL TIME

The official monthly podcast of the Canadian Real Estate Association, REAL TIME shares market updates as well as tips and trade secrets for REALTORS®. Should you be using artificial intelligence on the job? What are some ways for established REALTORS® to continue growing their businesses? How do you evaluate your online presence? These are just some of the questions that the informative podcast has tackled in past months.

2. The Canadian Real Estate Investor

Hosted by real estate professionals Daniel Foch and Nick Hill, this podcast is admittedly geared towards the RE investing community. However, it’s a worthwhile listen for REALTORS® since it covers the state of the Canadian real estate market, from the impacts of homebuilding and demographic trends to inflation and more. Foch, a broker and analyst, is an outspoken real estate commentator who is regularly quoted in the mainstream media, including the Globe & Mail and BNN Bloomberg. Listen to this podcast to hear the commentary behind tomorrow’s headlines.

3. Livabl Launch

Billed as “your newest go-to podcast for a behind-the-scenes look at the Canadian real estate market,” this twice-monthly podcast was launched this past summer by Livabl. Host Matthew Slutsky, who founded BuzzBuzzHome — the new-home database that Zonda purchased in 2021 and subsequently rebranded at Livabl — sits down with major industry players for candid and in-depth conversations. Learn how some of the biggest names in real estate got their start as well as how consumer preferences are changing and more.

4. Altus Insights

From some of Altus Group’s “brianiacs” (their word, not ours), Altus Insights focuses on Canada’s residential and commercial real estate markets and provides unique insights from inside one of the world’s leading real estate consultancies. The roughly once-a-month podcast is recommended for real estate professionals who want to dive deeper into the underlying factors behind the broader shifts taking place within markets.

5. The Tom Storey Show, with Steve & Tom

Realtors (and long-time friends) Tom Storey and Steve Karrasch join forces weekly to discuss a wide range of Canadian real estate topics from an unfiltered front-line perspective, regularly bringing in other expert agents to shake up the conversation. With Storey based in Toronto and Karrasch recording from Surrey, B.C., the podcast provides a good lay of the land and differentiates itself from the competition by bringing plently of personality to the discourse.
