Like most major cities, the cost of real estate in Toronto varies considerably. While the average price of a home in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) sits somewhere around $1.35 million, you’ll find homes on the market worth a lot more and a lot less than that. In this article, we’re exploring the most expensive properties currently for sale in Toronto.

1 Bloor Street #Lp7900 — $34,700,000

The most expensive property currently for sale in Toronto is a condominium unit located at  1 Bloor Street. The property is a lower penthouse located on the 79th floor of the building and the sale price is $34,700,000. It offers 8,752 square feet of living space, consisting of 5 + 1 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. It is a full-floor residence with unparalleled views and natural light pouring in from every direction, not to mention sleek interiors of marble and wood as far as the eye can see. Building amenities include a 24-hour concierge, custom-designed, high-speed elevators, an outdoor terrace, a sculpture garden, a billiards room, a spa, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre with a yoga studio and Pilates room. The lower penthouse at 1 Bloor Street is located in the ritzy neighbourhood of Yorkville, where upscale restaurants, lavish real estate, and luxury retailers abound.

1 Bloor Street #Ph 8202 — $31,620,000

Moving on to 1 Bloor Street #Ph 8202, the second most expensive pad currently for sale in Toronto. Located in the same building as the condo above, this penthouse unit is made up of 3 + 1 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Similar to the lower penthouse mentioned above, this 1 Bloor Street unit boasts sweeping views of the city and features heavy marble and wood accents. Residents have access to all building amenities, including the spa, sculpture garden, and fitness centre, as well as the surrounding neighbourhood of Yorkville. Yorkville has long been regarded as one of the ritziest parts of Toronto, home to flagship stores of global brands, a plethora of art galleries and museums, including the Royal Ontario Museum, and top-tier restaurants.

Amenities of the Most Expensive Houses in Toronto

When reading through the list of Toronto’s priciest pads above, you may have noticed a few similarities among the properties. More than high square metres or being located in ritzy neighbourhoods, many of the city’s most expensive properties share the same amenities. From indoor pools to wine cellars, we break down some of the most luxurious amenities you’re likely to find in Toronto’s most expensive houses.

Indoor Pool

Outdoor swimming pools can increase the value of your home, but some luxury properties take things a step further with indoor swimming pools. Indoor swimming pools are not only easier to maintain but they’re more practical, allowing residents to use them year-round as opposed to just during the summer.

Wine Cellar

Many luxury properties in Toronto feature wine cellars. If you’re a wine collector, buying a home with a private cellar can be extremely appealing. Though wine cellars can technically be placed anywhere in a house, they are best suited to places that are dark, cool, and humid, such as basements.

Saunas

Another amenity you might find in a luxury home in Toronto is a sauna. Portable, free-standing saunas are now being incorporated into bathrooms, pool areas, or backyard decks of expensive properties.

Yoga Studio

Home gyms are nothing new, but where luxury properties take things to the next level is with in-home fitness studios, like yoga or Pilates studios.

Theatre Room

One final amenity you might find in an expensive home in Toronto is none other than a theatre room. Theatre rooms are essentially private movie theatres, allowing residents to watch a movie on a big screen from the comfort of their homes. Home theatres are usually built in windowless rooms and can feature screens up to 3.4 metres in size.
