You’ll likely need the luck of the Irish to afford these homes, including a lakeside mansion that doubles as a pub and a log cabin within a rainforest.

Images of Canadian homes that resemble cottages

St. Patrick’s Day is a big deal in Canada. The country is home to millions of Irish Canadians, and many — both Irish and not — no doubt take the chance to let loose each year on March 17. With the Feast of Saint Patrick due to fall tomorrow, we scanned the Wahi listings for homes that reflect a little St. Paddy’s Day spirit. Check them out below.

Here’s a tree house fit for a well-heeled leprechaun. After all, leprechaun’s are known to like their privacy — and also B.C.’s milder climate, according to the Vancouver Institute Of Leprechaun Research. This home checks both boxes. Few Vancouver homes are more secluded than this one, which is perched above the Fisherman´s Cove Marina. Adding a touch of whimsy, the home is set into a steep incline, giving the impression of being a treehouse.

In Ireland, Ross Castle is a popular St. Patrick’s Day destination. For those who can’t make the trip across the Atlantic this year to visit the 15th-century tower, this 130-acre mountainside property in B.C. might be the next best thing. Nestled in the Great Bear Rainforest, the property centres around an approximately 9,000-square-foot log castle. The six-bedroom fortress even has a medieval-style fireplace.

This 8,000-plus-square-foot home was just made for merrymaking. It’s the ideal spot to host all your St. Patrick’s Day festivities. The main-floor’s family room functions like a pub, complete with a pool table and a peninsula bar (including its own draft-beer dispenser). Outdoors, there’s also a lakeside cabana, hot tub, and two docks.

OK, the rolling hills of Whitchurch-Stouffville probably won’t get mistaken for an Irish landscape. However, like the previous listing, this home makes the grade for St. Patrick’s Day because it is absolutely built for entertaining. It offers more than 11,600 square feet of living space, plus another 2,800 square feet in the form of an attached coach house. Guests won’t be left thirsty, as there are two custom walk-in wine cellars, an indoor wet bar, an outdoor beer tap near two cabanas and an open-air kitchen by the heated pool. Add to that a full home theatre.

Here are nearly four acres of sloping land on the Atlantic shore, in Nova Scotia, where one-in-four people are of Irish descent. The charming property provides a stretch of 170 feet of beach and its own wharf.
