Ajax Couple Finds Ideal Townhome and Gets Cashback on Their Purchase

When homebuyers take advantage of Wahi’s Cashback Program, they receive up to 1% of their home’s purchase price.

After several years of renting, Sheila and Thomas decided it was time to start building equity again by purchasing a home. The couple had previously owned two properties, so they were not new to homebuying. 

They set their sights on Durham region, one of the more affordable regions in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), and eventually settled on making Ajax their home. Strategically located in the Durham region in Southern Ontario, Ajax is close enough to downtown Toronto, where Sheila works, and not far from Scarborough, where their two adult children reside. 

It was Sheila’s husband, Thomas, who first came across Wahi through a Google search to find a REALTOR®. The app also saved them time searching for homes by sending them listings that matched their criteria, such as desired area, price range and features, such as the number of bedrooms.

“That was helpful,” adds Sheila. “It cut down on time.”

They used Wahi’s Market Pulse tool, which provides valuable insights into which neighbourhoods are selling for over or under asking. 

“[We used the tool] to see what the housing market was like in a certain area. It seemed every area [we were searching in] was a sellers’ market, but that didn’t deter us,” Sheila explains.
