Little Portugal-Brockton Village is two neighbourhoods in one! They are situated adjacent to one another and both have a long-standing history with the city’s Portuguese community. Even today, a disproportionate amount of Toronto's Portuguese population can be found here, not to mention all of the Portuguese restaurants, bakeries, and grocers that line the streets. Little Portugal - Brockton Village is located just 15 minutes from Toronto’s downtown core in the west end. Surrounded by Roncesvalles, Parkdale, Trinity Bellwoods, and Little Italy, this part of Toronto has quickly become one of the most hip and popular. Yet, it has still managed to retain much of its historic charm, in part due to the mix of Victorian homes built between 1880 and 1920. Beyond the detached and semi-detached homes that you will find on the neighbourhood’s residential streets are other low-rise apartment buildings, giving buyers several options. Green space abounds in Toronto’s west end, and Little Portugal - Brockton Village is no exception. Dufferin Grove Park can be found here, which features tennis courts, a basketball court, and an ice hockey rink, along with High Park, Toronto’s second largest park spanning over 400 acres, which is also nearby. Families will be interested to discover that the neighbourhood is home to a number of public and Catholic elementary and secondary schools. Lastly, Little Portugal - Brockton Village is accessible via public transit in the form of the TTC bus, streetcar, and subway, the latter mainly through Dufferin Station on Line 2.
