Little Italy, which is also referred to as College Street West, is a vibrant community teeming with culture. Nestled between Bathurst Street to the east, Harbord Street to the north, Ossington Avenue to the west, and Dundas Street West to the south, Little Italy is the place to be. This historic neighbourhood that had its roots in Italian culture is now far more diverse and yet has still retained its distinct Italian flair. For example, despite the fact that the area is now home to residents of all ethnicities, Little Italy features some of the best Italian food in the city. You will find trattorias, pizza parlours, gelato shops, gourmet grocers, and bakeries serving up authentic Italian cuisine on every street corner. The neighbourhood also has some Spanish influence which is evidenced in the shops and restaurants located here. Beyond food, residents can enjoy a buzzy nightlife scene, ranging from high-end bars on Ossington Avenue to all kinds of dive bars on Dundas Street West. While Little Italy is not known for its green space, this urban area is situated directly north of Trinity Bellwoods Park, allowing residents to take advantage of one of the city’s best-known green spaces. Trinity Bellwoods Park features tennis courts, volleyball courts, baseball diamonds, children’s playgrounds, a wading pool, a skating rink, and an off-leash dog area. Meanwhile, buses, streetcars, and the Queen’s Park subway station make for an excellent location when it comes to public transit access. In regards to housing, the area is largely characterized by Edwardian-style detached and semi-detached homes, making it a popular spot among families.
