15 minutes northwest of downtown Toronto lies the neighbourhood of Davenport. This safe, quiet, and conveniently located urban area is bound by Lansdowne Avenue to the west, Christie Street to the east, Davenport Road to the north, and the CPR rail lines to the south. Residents benefit from a range of single-family homes, easy access to downtown Toronto, and plenty of public transit stops. As one of the city’s more residential neighbourhoods, you will find some small shops, grocery stores, and restaurants here, but many are located just outside of the area’s bounds. A short walk south brings you to Galleria Shopping Centre, and even further south of that is Dufferin Mall, both of which have all the big box and chain stores you could possibly need. That said, Geary Avenue is quickly becoming one of the trendiest strips in the city, with lots of hip bars and eateries popping up, like Paradise Grapevine Winery, Blood Brothers Brewing, Parallel, and North of Brooklyn Pizzeria. This makes Davenport an ideal spot for both young professionals and families. For the latter, you also have several schools nearby, as well as the Wallace Emerson Community Centre, which hosts a myriad of recreational programs for children and adults alike and has a swimming pool, gymnasium, a games room, and a children’s play area. Hillcrest Park, Earlscourt Park, and Wallace Emerson Park are also within walking distance of Davenport. When it comes to transit access, Davenport’s location is stellar. You have countless bus lines, along with Line 2 subway access along Bloor Street via Dufferin, Ossington, and Bathurst stations. Meanwhile, drivers are only 10 to 15 minutes from the city’s major highways. Finally, living in Davenport means living in one of the area’s Victorian detached homes, semi-detached homes, or townhomes. Between the brick exteriors and interiors, charming front porches, and private backyards, you can’t go wrong living in Davenport.
