North York has everything going for it. Roughly 30 minutes north of downtown Toronto, it is close to the city but still retains its own distinct vibe. Sometimes referred to as Toronto’s “second downtown,” North York is multicultural, thriving, and full of attractions. This makes it an ideal neighbourhood for residents from all walks of life. First, the area is known for its incredible and diverse food scene. You can find everything from Indian and Chinese restaurants to Greek and Spanish cuisine. It also boasts historic neighbourhoods, tree-lined streets, a vibrant entertainment scene, which includes many festivals held at Downsview Park, access to scenic recreational parks, and excellent public transport. For example, North York is connected to the rest of Toronto via many buses and the subway. Line 1 of the subway from Sheppard-Yonge will take you straight to Union Station in under 30 minutes. You’re also only a short distance from major highways, like Highway 401 and Highway 407. In terms of education, you have a plethora of top-rated elementary, secondary, and post-secondary schools right in your back door. There aren’t many Toronto neighbourhoods that boast this. For example, Seneca College and York University are both located in North York. Wondering what there is to do in North York? Spend the day at the Ontario Science Centre, explore the latest exhibit at the Aga Khan Museum, or step back in time at Black Creek Pioneer Village. Downsview Park and Edward Gardens can also be found in North York, offering a range of activities for people of all ages. Between its safety rating, transit access, and arts and culture scene, North York is an extremely liveable Toronto neighbourhood. So whether you’re moving for a job or to raise a family, North York is a fantastic choice.
