Pacific Spirit Regional Park is a part of the ritzy neighbourhood of Point Grey, situated in the University Endowment Lands. This lush, 874-hectare park surrounds the University of British Columbia, making this area a paradise for nature lovers.
Pacific Spirit Regional Park is located on the west side of Vancouver, less than 15 minutes by car from the downtown car. It borders the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver Campus, surrounding the famous University Endowment Lands. That said, Pacific Spirit Regional Park is much larger than the Endowment Lands. In fact, it’s twice the size of Stanley Park, perhaps the most famous park in Vancouver. Featuring 874 hectares of green space and a whopping 73 kilometres of walking and hiking trails, nature lovers won’t be able to get enough of living here. If you want to live among the old growth trees in close proximity to BC’s top university and the family-friendly neighbourhoods of Dunbar and Point Grey, Pacific Spirit Regional Park is for you.
Pacific Spirit Regional Park couldn’t be closer to the University of British Columbia (UBC) campus if it tried. Thus, the education that living here offers is second to none when it comes to post-secondary. To put it into perspective, UBC was ranked as the second best university in Canada and the 13th best university in the world in 2022. The university sees an annual enrollment of roughly 72,000 students and offers courses in all sorts of faculties, such as education, law, music, social work, nursing, medicine, business, architecture, arts, and more. That said, even if you live near Pacific Spirit Regional Park, you may still decide that you wish to attend post-secondary school elsewhere. Thankfully, your prime location in Vancouver gives you plenty of options. Other popular universities in the city include Simon Fraser University, Capilano University, Vancouver Film School, the Art Institute of Vancouver, and the Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Meanwhile, if you have a school-aged child, you will find several top-notch public options through BC School District No. 39, which serves Pacific Spirit Regional Park and its surrounding communities. There are also many private, Catholic, and French immersion options nearby.
Due to the proximity between Pacific Spirit Regional Park and the University of British Columbia, the two share many of the same neighbourhoods. These include East Campus Neighbourhood, Chancellor Place, Hawthorn Place, Hampton Place, Wesbrook Place, and Stadium Neighbourhood. However, the other larger neighbourhoods located nearby include West Point Grey, Dunbar-Southlands, and Kitsilano.
As a popular destination within the city and a close neighbour to the University of British Columbia, Pacific Spirit Regional Park is extremely accessible. There are several TransLink bus routes that travel to and from the area on a daily basis. There has also been talk about developing a SkyTrain system that connects the UBC Vancouver campus with the downtown core. For residents who need to travel farther, all they have to do is drive or take public transit down to Richmond, where the province’s largest airport, Vancouver International Airport is located. Meanwhile, the downtown core has a Via Rail train station, as well as a coach bus station. As to healthcare options, the nearby UBC campus has its own family practice clinic, the UBC clinic, as well as its own hospital, the UBC Hospital. That said, the City of Vancouver has a plethora of world-renowned medical facilities for residents to take advantage of. These include Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, and Vancouver General Hospital, among others.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) operates all throughout the city, including in Pacific Spirit Regional Park. That said, the west side of Vancouver is known for its low crime rate, making the area around Pacific Spirit Regional Park a safe one to live in. In an emergency situation, always call 9-1-1.
The property market in and around Pacific Spirit Regional Park is one of the hottest in the city, largely due to the fact that it is situated next to the university, not to mention the prime coastal location. Knowing this, it probably won’t come as a shock that the City of Vancouver which Pacific Spirit Regional Park is a part of was recently ranked the fifth most liveable city in the entire world. The Global Liveability Index’s 2023 Liveability Report gave Vancouver this honour. They were not only the fifth on the list but they were ranked above any other city in Canada.
