News Release GTA Homes Taking 3-4 Times Longer to Sell TORONTO, ONT. — September 29, 2026 — Homes across the Greater Toronto Area are taking three to four times longer to sell than they did at the height of the market in early 2022, with little sign of a turnaround. New analysis from digital real estate platform Wahi tracks average days on market by property type from 2020 through Q2 2026, revealing that selling times continue to increase year-over-year. Condos have seen the biggest slowdown, taking an average of 36 days to sell in Q2, up from 32 days a year earlier and well under two weeks in 2022. Detached homes now take about 25 days to sell, compared with just nine days at the Q1 2022 peak. Townhouses have proven more resilient, averaging 24 days on market. “Back in 2022, the average condo was getting snapped up in well under two weeks,” says Wahi Economist Ryan McLaughlin. “The upshot is inventory levels remain near historic highs, giving condo buyers lots of room to negotiate pricing and conditions.” Ryan is available to discuss what’s behind the GTA’s longer selling times and which property types are holding up best.
