Zoom In on Property Images Like You Do on Instagram

Property photos on Wahi now work like Instagram. Pinch to zoom in on listing images and see details without opening separate viewers.

Property photos on Wahi now respond to pinch-to-zoom. When you’re scrolling through listings or looking at a specific property, you can zoom in on images to see details up close without tapping through extra screens or waiting for separate viewers to load.

We Listened

Users kept telling us they’d try to zoom on listing photos the same way they do on Instagram or in their phone’s photo app. They’d see a kitchen they liked and pinch outward to check the countertop material, or zoom on a bathroom to get a better look at the fixtures, and nothing would happen. We heard this feedback enough times that we decided to make a change.

How It Works

Open any listing and tap a photo with two fingers. Pinch outward to zoom in on specific areas. You can move your fingers around to pan across different sections of the zoomed image, then pinch inward to zoom back out. The feature works the same way on individual property pages and in the list view when you’re browsing multiple listings at once. There’s no lag, no extra steps, and no separate image viewer that needs to load.

Why Photos Matter

Photos help you decide if a property deserves a closer look or an in-person showing. You want to know if the kitchen appliances are actually updated or just photographed well. You want to see if bathroom tiles look new or worn. You want to check if hardwood floors have scratches or stains. These small details add up when you’re trying to figure out if a home is worth a second look.

Before this update, getting that closer look meant tapping into full-screen mode or saving images to zoom in on later. When you’re comparing 20 or 30 listings in one session, those extra taps slow down the browsing process. You lose your place, forget which property had the feature you liked, or just skip the step entirely and miss important details.

Making Comparisons Easier

Say you’re looking at three condos and they all have renovated kitchens. The photos look similar at first glance, but you want to see which one actually has better finishes. You can zoom in on each kitchen photo right from the list view and compare countertops, backsplashes, and cabinet quality without opening each listing separately. That saves time and makes it easier to narrow down your options.

Now, let’s say you’re viewing a house that claims to have a recently updated bathroom. The wide shot looks like the bathroom has been renovated, however, you want to confirm the quality before booking a showing. Zoom in on the fixtures, grout lines, and tile work to see if the update is actually new or just staged to look better than it is. You can now figure out the answer in seconds rather than going to a showing only to discover the photo doesn’t accurately capture the finishes.

How This Fits With Other Apps

Instagram, Pinterest, and your phone’s photo gallery all work the same way. You pinch to zoom, pan around to see different areas, and pinch again to zoom out. Unlike most real estate apps, when you browse homes on Wahi’s app, property photos respond the same way as other images. It’s one less thing to think about when you’re trying to focus on finding the right home.

What This Does for Your Search

The ability to zoom in and out of property images means you can evaluate properties faster. You also filter out properties more effectively. Zoom shows you things that wide shots hide or minimize. Countertops that looked fine from a distance might show wear and tear up close. Appliances that seemed modern might be older models with good lighting. Floors that appeared pristine might have damage in corners the photographer tried to minimize. Knowing this before you book a showing saves you from wasting time on properties that don’t actually meet your standards. Pinch-and-zoom is a small change, but it removes friction and lets you focus on what matters: finding a home that fits your needs.
