This mansion at 24314 Meadow Dr., in rural Rocky View County, has its own private nine-hole golf course and clubhouse with beer taps.

Alberta’s luxury market might not be as over-the-top as B.C.’s, or Ontario’s, where you’ll typically find the most expensive properties in Canada, but it’s no slouch.

The oil-rich province’s strong economy, driven by the resource sector, as well as agriculture and tourism, ensures there’s lots of money flowing around. And where there’s money, there’s luxury real estate. So we followed the money (and Wahi’s property listings) to find some of the most opulent homes in Wild Rose Country. Fore! Minutes from Calgary’s northern city limits, you’ll find a home that has its own world-class private nine-hole golf course and clubhouse, complete with beer on tap. It’s said that million-dollar deals happen on the golf course, so this 12,000-plus-square-foot home should have obvious appeal for Cowtown’s wheelers and dealers.

When looking at more than 14,000 square feet of luxury living space, it can be tough to pick a home’s highlights — especially when it’s an entirely bespoke dwelling where even the  chandeliers are one-of-a-kind. But in this French Provence-inspired estate, we’ll go with the… basement. Seriously. It’s got a nine-seat theatre with popcorn station alongside a bar, billiard area, as well as a climate-controlled wine cellar and tasting area. That should get you through the long Alberta winter.

The home itself is a rustic masterpiece of wood construction that features more than a dozen types of wood harvested from around the world.

Seven million dollars might seem like a lot for a bungalow, but take a closer look. Located in Calgary’s affluent Eagle Ridge community, this one-storey home is decked out with all the perks you’d expect of a much larger estate: there’s a den with a brass-railed hotel bar, theatre room boasting a 108-inch screen, and a gym with shower and sauna setup, to name some of the exclusive offerings.
