Dufferin Grove has developed a reputation for being one of the coolest neighbourhoods in Toronto. Located in the city’s west end, Dufferin Grove is situated between Bloor Street West to the north, College Street to the south, Dovercourt Road to the east, and the CPR rail lines to the west. In other words, it is sandwiched between The Junction and Roncesvalles, both of which have also earned a reputation for being hip and trendy. One of the area’s main attractions is none other than Dufferin Grove Park, which features sports fields, basketball courts, a wading pool, multiple picnic areas, and a children’s playground, as well as hosts the weekly Dufferin Grove Park Organic Farmers’ Market, which is held on Thursday nights year-round. Beyond the enviable green space, Dufferin Grove features Dufferin Mall, where you can shop for clothing, groceries, and everything in between. Meanwhile, plenty of bars, pubs, and eateries can be found on Dufferin, College, and Bloor Streets. In terms of housing, this Toronto pocket has more affordable options than much of its surroundings. The neighbourhood largely consists of two and three-storey detached and semi-detached homes, many of which date back to the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. As such, the architecture you will find here is mostly Victorian, Edwardian, and English Cottage-style. Dufferin Grove attracts a mixture of residents, from families who flock to the area for its relatively spacious homes and proximity to nearby schools, to young professionals who enjoy the nightlife and culture that the area has to offer.
