Just east of the downtown core like Cabbagetown. This Toronto east end neighbourhood is nestled against the Don Valley Parkway to the east, Sherbourne Street to the west, Rosedale Valley Road to the north, and Gerrard Street East to the south. Full of history and culture, Cabbagetown has quickly become one of the trendiest neighbourhoods on the east side of the city. Residents can take advantage of the “Old Cabbagetown” shops, located on Parliament Street, and the Carlton Street shops, among other smaller retailers located on Sherbourne and Gerrard. At the centre of Cabbagetown is none other than Riverdale Park, one of the most popular parks in the City of Toronto. More than your average park, Riverdale Park is home to several sports facilities, Riverdale Farm, which was created to replicate a nineteenth century Victorian farm, and several walking trails, including access to the Lower Don Recreation Trail. Meanwhile, Cabbagetown also has the Cabbagetown Community Arts Centre, the Cabbagetown Youth Centre, and hosts the Cabbagetown Fall Festival, which features a parade, historical tours, and much more, every year. Next, transportation to and from the area is excellent, with easy access to the Don Valley Parkway, as well as TTC bus and subway access to both Lines 1 and 2. Real estate in Cabbagetown comes at a price, especially when you consider that many of the homes are Victorian in style and detached. In fact, The New York Times once wrote that Cabbagetown contains “the largest collection of Victorian homes in North America.” So if you’re lucky enough to nab one, we’re sure you’ll love it.
