Raymerville, Markham Neighbourhood Guide: A Quiet and Restful Community

Raymerville is located in central Markham. This community is proud of its top-ranking high school, which attracts families to the neighbourhood. The Ramer family, who were farmers, were the first to settle here. A local school, Ramer Wood Public School, constructed in the area in 1986, was named after these early pioneers. Following the building of this school, the main thoroughfare, Raymerville Drive, was constructed.

Due to Raymerville’s central location in Markham, it’s easy to access the other neighbourhoods in the city. The York Region Transit buses make frequent trips along the major thoroughfares, including McCowan Road, 16th Avenue, and Markham Road. 

If you live in the east end of this neighbourhood, you’ll be within a five- to 10-minute walk of the Markham Village GO Station. The train will take you downtown to Union Station in 50 minutes. On the west side, you’ll find the Centennial GO Station. 

Most residents here own a car, making driving to Toronto on nearby Highways 407 and 404 convenient in about 30 minutes.

Additionally, Route 301 Markham Express, Route 41 Markham Local, and Route 45 Mingay all travel to the Finch GO bus terminal, which will take you to the downtown core.

For those with a vehicle, Raymerviille Drive is the main thoroughfare through this neighbourhood. This corridor connects with other parts of the city like Unionville and Markville East. It’s a very busy street, though it’s restricted to two lanes to limit heavy traffic —  contributing to a quieter and calmer community.
