One York Quay is just one of the Greater Toronto Area condo buildings that features smaller suite sizes for homebuyers on a budget.

In order for some homebuyers to break into the pricey Greater Toronto Area housing market, sacrifices have to be made.

That might mean seeking properties outside of your desired neighbourhoods, or choosing a smaller home. Micro-condos are one example of the latter, and also an example of how even with sacrifices you don’t need to give up on access to amenities, a desirable address, and nice finishes. Plus, because monthly maintenance fees are based on square footage, the smaller your unit, the lower your recurring costs. Though the definition of a micro-condo varies — some say they’re anything under 600 square feet, while others suggest they’re most commonly between 250 to 350 square feet —  it’s fair to say that they’re considerably smaller than the average multi-family dwelling. To showcase what kind of pint-sized options are out there for homebuyers, Wahi has rounded up 10 impressive micro condos that are on the market today. (For the purposes of this list, we’ve counted anything below 500 square feet as a micro-condo.) Scroll down to see what we’ve found.
