Canmore Introduces New Housing Rules to Improve Housing Affordability
New short-term rental rules set by Canmore’s Town Council hope to change the town’s housing affordability trajectory.
Brett has experience writing for a wide range of outlets. His work has appeared in publications such as Forbes Advisor, Publishers Weekly, Canadian Mortgage Trends, U.S. News & World Report and Industry West Magazine, to name a few.
In addition to writing for Wahi, Brett works at KMSC Law LLP in Grande Prairie, Alberta, where he assists lawyers with major corporate transactions and tax reorganizations. He’s worked on mergers & acquisitions, corporate restructuring projects and legal research regarding tax law. (And no, it’s not as boring as it sounds.)
Before becoming a paralegal and writer, Brett had a brief teaching stint. He helped adult learners pass Canada’s GED exam and taught them computer literacy skills to help them secure jobs. He also taught at his town’s bible college as an adjunct professor for two years.
Brett received a Professional Legal Assistant Diploma from Sundance College and a Bachelor of Religious Education from Peace River Bible Institute. He also holds a number of certifications from the Alberta government related to his paralegal practice.
Brett has published book reviews in several academic journals and co-authored a poem for the journal Theophron. He has appeared as a panellist on webinars discussing legal technology and the role of legal professionals, one of which was for the Canadian Legal Innovation Forum.
Brett was once the chair of the library board for the Town of Sexsmith, which he found very rewarding. His friends call him the “Lord of the Paperbacks.” (OK, that’s not true.)
Given that he has a day job and a side hustle as a freelance writer, Brett loves the diversity each day brings. He enjoys the challenge of constantly learning, so he can bring value to his readers, and is grateful for the opportunity to do so.
He’d be a professor.
Brett can be found spending time with his wife and their two children, reading dense philosophy material, losing another game of chess, or throwing around weights at the gym.
