Located in central Whitby, just north of its downtown core, is the charming little neighbourhood of Pringle Creek. Known for its small watercourse that flows through its homestead and into Lake Ontario<\/a>, Pringle Creek features many parks and natural areas.<\/p>

With such close proximity to Whitby’s downtown core, it’s only natural that Whitby City Hall, the Whitby Civic Recreation Complex, and the Durham<\/a> Region Administrative buildings can all be found on Rossland Road.<\/p>

Located just minutes north of Dundas Street West, Pringle Creek gets its namesake from John Pringle, who emigrated to Whitby<\/a> in 1836. Generations of his descendants have since played a role in the neighbourhood’s growth and success over the years.<\/p>

 <\/p>

Herbert Pringle, for example, became Whitby\u2019s Town engineer in 1925 and eventually Superintendent of Whitby\u2019s public utilities. He was instrumental in overseeing the building of Whitby\u2019s hydro and waterworks infrastructure for nearly 40 years.<\/p>

Pringle Creek has a diverse mix of architecture. Taking a stroll through the neighbourhood, you\u2019ll find many new builds and resale homes, most of which were built between 1981 and 2000.<\/p>

Much of the architecture includes traditional, single detached, two storey homes, but you\u2019ll also find some modern, high-rise buildings and townhomes \u2013 some of which are eco-friendly and sustainably designed.<\/p>

Given its proximity to Whitby’s downtown core, Pringle Creek has many shops, amenities, and local events to explore. Residents can get to special events, such as the Downtown Whitby<\/a> Christmas Market or the Downtown Whitby Beerfest, in under 10 minutes by car.<\/p>

Whitby is a fast-growing, vibrant municipality with numerous cultural institutions like the Whitby Courthouse Theatre and the Lynde House Museum.
