Old, tree-shaded lots with stone facades and plenty of room to run around in, premium shopping and dining experiences at both the north and south ends, and all of it bordered by some of the oldest natural parks in Toronto. <\/p>

What began as a blueprint to affluence and glamour blossomed into one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in the entire city. Looking at all the commercial, retail, and residential space covering the modern-era Kingsway of today, it\u2019s hard to believe that it was private land. Deemed as Clergy Reserve lands deeded to the Church of England as late as the 1800s, the land that\u2019s now called Kingsway was eventually sold to Etobicoke<\/a> area lawyer and developer Robert Home Smith in 1908. <\/p>

The initial plan centred around building and selling homes beginning in 1912, the onset of the First World War, which invariably delayed things. The conclusion of the Great War and the construction of the Bloor Street Bridge finally led to the development of what would eventually be Kingsway. <\/p>

 <\/p>

The intention was to make Kingsway the centre of affluence. In keeping with the affluent neighbourhood we know it to be, the architectural style of Kingsway\u2019s homes is consistently lavish across all eras of development. <\/p>

The homes of Kingsway Park were constructed between 1924 and 1947 and featured the highest quality stone exteriors and wrought iron adornments available at the time. Some of the area\u2019s oldest houses feature Victorian and Edwardian stylings, dating back as far as the late 1800s. <\/p>

It\u2019s not all stone mansions and custom-built estates though.
